I was born and raised in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I moved to Boston (USA) after secondary school and studied design and architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology, and then at MIT. I worked in that field in the Middle East for several years after I graduated.
Never in a million years did I think that I would end up with a career in the financial services, but I truly believed that to keep developing you need to step outside your comfort zone, so in 2003 I made a drastic decision to change my career and move to London. It is the financial hub of the world, so why not?
It took a little while to find my niche, and for the last 9 years, my career focussed on operations management at Octopus Investments and then at Aberdeen Standard Capital.
Here I am 16 years later, and I am still looking to push myself and bring greater value to the Capital team and our fantastic clients. With such an exciting vision for its clients and employees, Capital is the perfect match for me. I enjoy developing team capacities and watching us unleash our creativity, negotiate differences, and bolster collaboration and efficiency.
To provide world-class service and returns for our clients, Capital needs a world-class operations function. This is my daily goal.
Allowing our clients to benefit from cutting edge technology is also another important aspect of my role. I have always been fascinated by technology and how it changed the world we live in. The use of technology should always enhance a service rather than replace it, so a huge part of my role at Capital will be to find and maintain this balance to deliver further value.
Outside of work one of my favourite hobbies is baking and decorating cakes for family, friends (and now colleagues). I equally enjoy cooking and making a total mess of the kitchen and test my recipes on anyone willing to try them. I have recently started a blog of my kitchen mishaps, bloopers and blunders, which means I can share my creations and swap ideas with other enthusiasts.
I am excited with the ambitions and plans here at Capital and hope to play a significant part in delivering the best service in our profession, helping Capital to become the best financial planning firm in the UK.
