I grew up to the east of London, and like the majority of my friends, my career followed the familiar commuter path to the City, and financial services in particular. My first job, in 1997, was with Prudential, where I worked in the complaints-handling team. That was a robust introduction to the working world. This led to roles with Henderson, SG Asset Management, and Seven Investment Management (7IM). I joined Capital Asset Management from 7IM in November 2020. My role is to introduce prospective clients to our highly skilled financial-planning team. I get immense satisfaction from seeing how real financial life planning can bring benefits to families and individuals. On a personal level, I’m a qualified financial coach, and hold the Investment Management Certificate (level 4). I’m also currently preparing to receive my CII Diploma, a qualification specifically oriented, in my case, towards regulated financial planning. I’m also an LTA level-three tennis coach. In 2016, I left a senior position in financial services to pursue my dream of teaching tennis to children. Over the next couple of years, I held coaching positions at the National Tennis Centre, and ran my own programmes at local schools. This was something I’d always longed to do, and I look back on the experience with great pleasure. On the fitness front, I also box (my footwork needs a little work) and regularly cycle to the Capital office. I am an avid music collector – owning about 1,200 albums. While the recent opening of a record outlet in Twickenham, my home town, was an interesting development, it’s also proven an expensive one for me personally. Anything from The Stone Roses to Smokey Robinson rocks my musical boat. My wife Victoria and I have a little boy called Alexander, and we are also responsible for regularly walking our two boisterous border terriers, Frank and Albert.
